Dubbed the rising star in the continent of Africa, the South Sudanese men and women’s teams are preparing to compete at the highest level of FIBA and throughout the world. As the newest nation on earth, the South Sudanese players are committed to bring peace and hope to the world through the game of basketball. Beginning with the legacy left by the late basketball pioneer, Manut Bol and continuing on to players such as Luol Deng for the Los Angeles Lakers, the torch and pride of champions is carried on by the players of the next generation. Not only does he have a rich international basketball background, but he also has also established a winning tradition at every stop along his coaching path.

The Bol family is synonymous with basketball excellence in the South Sudan. Coach Madut Bol is no exception to that rule. As a standout player and now coach for his home country, Madut has modeled excellence and grit. He brings that same fire to building the national program stating, "That it is an honor to serve my country, and now it's time to get to work."

The youth of the South Sudan live as refugees throughout the world. Most fled in the night, with nothing but the clothes on their back, to escape genocide and the devastating wrath of a 50 year civil war. Today, for the first time in history, these youth are being reunited to compete on basketball's world stage. The funds raised will be used to compete in the world championships as well as the African championships and to provide scholarships to the youth of the South Sudan, both young men and young women. Time is of the essence as these brave student athletes are completing their school year and looking forward to a chance to represent their home country in several tournaments throughout the summer.
